Slowly emerging - Nillumbik location

I am moving towards offering one day a week in, or around, Eltham. This project is in its gestational phase.

In recent years I have moved to the Nillumbik Shire, and am slowly developing a sense of place here. I would like to make a contribution to this region which is holding me, and feel called to celebrate this natural beauty.

I have a love of rivers since childhood, and the Birrarung (Yarra River) particularly has acted as teacher, muse and salve through my journey as a therapist so far. It feels fitting that the expansion of my practice would occur further along the river from the beautiful Inside This River location in Northcote.

I am not yet sure what this Nillumbik day will look like?? I will offer individual sessions, and hopefully groups, but likely it will not be an exact replica of my primary practice in Northcote (which will remain securely in-place). This will be a space for exploring possibilities…

Hopefully expanding further into eco-based ways of working and being together; nature-based art therapy workshops? basket weaving? nature poetry? meeting by the river? listening to eco-systems as mentors for nervous system regulation? I’m curious how therapy might include reciprocity with our natural environment - could we plant trees while engaging in therapy about the plans people are making for their own lives?? Could an eco-dye workshop produce pouches to donate for injured birds….?? Collaborations with local artists and other therapists? I am all ‘aswim’ with musing and ponderings… and so hence the gestational period.

Offerings will be available for both existing and new clients. I am aiming to have this off the ground (well… on the ground) by the end of 2025.

I will not set myself up to offer the Medicare rebate at this new location. This frees me up from paperwork and other associated administration. On this day, I am curious what becomes possible when I do not need to keep shifting from the therapy space back to my left-brain to process rebates and write GP letters and so forth. I am also curious what happens when I offer what I believe is most powerful, without mentally referencing if the session has met Medicare’s fairly tedious and limited criteria. The Medicare rebate will remain available in Northcote, so where this is an accessibility issue, this door has not been closed.
